BEYOND THE PETALS

The Petal Patch is a tiny flower farm tucked away in Main Ridge, just down the road from popular places such as Main Ridge Dairy and Red Hill Lavender Farm.
The patch is filled with perennials and cut-and-come-again flowers including daffodils, ranunculus, cosmos, sweet peas, dahlias, zinnias, snapdragons and achillea. Throughout the season, we offer fresh bouquets, flower buckets, seeds, and a small selection of dahlia tubers and cuttings. Workshops are also in the making!
Behind The Petal Patch is just one very passionate grower — Anna — who does everything from planting and picking to watering, weeding and bunching flowers. We care deeply about looking after the Main Ridge landscape and grow as sustainably as possible, using drip irrigation, heavy mulching, homemade compost and natural soil inputs while avoiding harsh chemicals and synthetic fertilisers.
Alongside fresh flowers for the local community, The Petal Patch has also started hybridising dahlias in the hope of one day creating our own unique Petal Patch varieties. It’s a slow process involving hand pollination, seed saving and selecting the very best traits — but that’s all part of the magic.
Meet the team

Anna
Power behind the flowers
Anna is the driving force behind every petal grown in the patch. From preparing the soil, planting, nurturing, harvesting, arranging bouquets, administrative tasks, Anna does it all.

Scottish Highland Herd
Compost Manager
Our small herd of Scottish Highland Cattle contribute to the beauty of the Petal Patch via their "poop" composting program which adds organic nutrition to our soil.

Bees
Pollination Mangers
Our three hives are named Matilda, Clementine and Evie and the bees from these hives flit from petal to petal carrying a little bit of pollinator magic with them. It is the Matildas, the Clementines and Evie’s who do the tedious and precise job of cross pollinating each and every flower bloom, except when Anna hand pollinates for the breeding program.
